Applications for clinical veterinary supervisors for the 2025 VLVS program are now open!
Are you an experienced production animal vet who is based in Victoria, has worked for more than 5 years in production animal/mixed animal (with production focus) veterinary practice and has a keen interest in and patience and time for mentoring and teaching early career vets?
We are looking for 8 clinical supervisors to pair with successful VLVS candidates for a 2-year program commencing January 31st 2025. Supervisor applicants must hold a nationally recognised veterinary science degree and be registered to practice as a vet surgeon in the state of Victoria. Eligible applicants may be:
1. Working within a regional Victorian vet clinic alongside scholarship candidate applicant/s,
2. Working independently of a vet clinic, or
3. Not currently actively engaged in clinical veterinary work (e.g. retired, on leave, career break etc.).
Requirements
Benefits:
- Provide practical training, support, mentorship and guidance for a scholarship candidate in their production animal calls by accompanying them on farm up to 5 days per month for the first 6 months of the program, then reducing as clinical experience is gained.
- Receive $120/hr for accompanying and training the candidate, completing candidate assessments and evaluations and attending meetings with VSS management.
- Receive a fixed fee of $140/weeknight ($440/weekend (sat/sun)) for after-hours phone support for the candidate in their rostered production animal on-call work and double/quadruple hourly rate if on-farm attendance for practical support is required during the first 12 months of the scholarship program.
- Receive 8 hours of supervisor training at the program commencement residential in Melbourne with associated accommodation and travel costs covered.
Any experienced livestock vets interested in becoming a scholarship candidate supervisor who fulfil eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply. You do not need to know or be linked with a specific scholarship applicant to apply.
